Setting
There are many place where the story takes place:
District 12- This is where the main character Katniss lives. It is one of the smallest of the 12 districts of Panem. Aside from the Victor's village, most of the houses and places in the district aren't very nice. It's fenced in with an electric fence, though the fence is never on. Outside of District 12 is woods that are forbidden to enter. District 12's specialty is mining, which you don't begin to start until the age of 18.
The Capitol- The Capitol of Panem is where the Hunger games are controlled. The living conditions there are much nicer in he Capitol, than the ones in the districts. The people that live here are much wealthier and are treated nicer. The Capitol is the main part of Panem. It pretty much relieson the Districts to supply them with all their needs. It is where the president lives. Since it's wealthier than all the districts, the buildigs and houses are much bigger and nicer.
The Arena- The arena in Catching Fire is a clock. It's a dome shaped arena with the center surrounded by water. There are twelve spokes coming off the center where the Cornucopia is, each one poining to a section of the woods as a certain hour. Each section is for a different hour. Each hour, something happens in the corresponding section. The woods in this arena are more like jungle. Nothing is what Katniss is used to. The tree trunks are smooth, the animals are different. It's more vines and moss rather than flowers and bark. The only water in the arena is the water surrounding the Cornucopia and the water from the trees. Outside of the jungle, more towards the center, is beach, which leads to the water. The force field around the arena is "invisible". However, there are, what Beetee calls "chinks" in the force field-spots where it's not fully protected.
Also takes place in less significant places like the districts when Katniss and Peeta are on their victory tour, the aircraft at the end that Katniss is rescued in, and the woods outside of District 12
